Optimux is at the forefront of applied material science innovation to extend the life of process control equipment. CVD-5B, first used in the aerospace industry, is a chemical vapor diffusion process in which a hard, wear-resistant metal mesh is fused to the surface of a variety of black and colored materials. Optimux leverages and refines this advanced hardening technology, effectively extending valve life by up to 10 times in some cases.
Industrial customers are increasingly demanding process control equipment that is also wear-resistant and able to withstand higher temperatures, and CVD-5B is a cost-effective alternative to address these process control issues. Unlike coatings and conventional hard surfaces, which only harden the surface of the base material, during the hardening of CDD-5B, superheated boron atoms spread considerably deep into the surface of the base material, forming a layer of metal borides that permeates evenly to 0.015 inches.
Economical alternative to tungsten carbide
Corrosion resistance; Acids and bases
Extended service life for severe service pruning
Resistant to temperatures up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit
Reduce friction coefficient
It's not ceramic. It won't crack under stress
Note: In addition to our proprietary CVD-5B hardening, Optimux also offers traditional hardening valve materials such as:
Tungsten carbide
Tungsten-chrome-cobalt alloy
nickel
Hard chromium
titanium
zirconium
