Cavitation in the control valve only occurs in the liquid medium, and the main influencing factors are fluid velocity and pressure drop. When the liquid flows through the valve, if its upstream pressure is suddenly lower than its steam pressure, a steam bubble will be formed. Cavitation is the rupture of these steam bubbles when pressure is restored downstream of the valve internals outlet.
