Rotary cut-off control valves, sometimes referred to as eccentric plug valves such as OpEXL, have become an increasingly common choice for plant stakeholders due to their ability to handle high flow rates, superior range, compact size, and shaft seal design.

OpEXL is a robust, lightweight and economical alternative to spherical control valves. It is designed to comfortably handle pressure differentiations of up to 725 psi (50 bar), temperatures ranging from -150 degrees Fahrenheit (-100 degrees Celsius) to 752 degrees Fahrenheit (400 degrees Celsius), sizes ranging from 1 "to 14" and ANSI grades from 150 to 300.

It has a wide range of 160:1, significantly higher than most shut-off control valves (50:1) and most butterfly valves (20:1). Optimux OpEXL has three available interior reductions for each size, which allows users to hone specific control parameters.

In the seat design, the plug protrudes into the seat, eliminating friction and reducing the impact of abrasives, making the valve last longer in most applications.
