Optimux OpRPA High performance rack and pinion actuators are designed for automatic V-notched balls, trunnion balls, eccentric plugs, butterfly valves, custom engineered rotary valves and dampers. Contrary to long-held belief that rack and pinion actuators do not provide sufficient resolution to accurately position the plug or ball in a control valve, significant progress has been made in the design and manufacturing process of some rack and pinion actuators so that they can now provide precise control and high resolution - compared to piston-cylinder or diaphragm rotary actuators. All of this reduces costs.
The OpRPA is enclosed in a precision extruded anodized alumina body and has an integral nitrogen coated pinion. They are designed for 100-degree travel, with clockwise and counterclockwise stroke adjustments for open and close positions. In addition, OpRPA can be converted to double acting or spring return by simply removing or adding the spring.
