  • Detail

The Optimux OpTK linear piston-cylinder actuator is a powerful, high-performance pneumatic actuator that provides positive throttle or on-off operation for automatic control valves. The cylinders are dual-acting and can withstand instrument-supplied air pressures of up to 150 psi, which allows the OpTK to generate a lot of thrust in a compact space.

The actuator is fully reversible for air to open or air to close action with no additional parts; Springs provide fail-safe operation. The positioner provides air to both sides of the piston, providing exceptionally hard, precise motion as well as a very high frequency response.

High thrust - the operating pressure of 150psi (10.3 Bar) has more thrust than comparable diaphragm actuators, providing tighter valve closure.

The high frequency dual action configuration responds quickly to signal changes

The compact is lighter and more compact than similar linear diaphragm actuators, with a smaller overall footprint and easier installation and maintenance.

Common standard actuator sizes 25,50 and 100 will handle thrust requirements for more than 95% of process applications. Larger sizes are available for special applications.

Fewer parts - 1/3 fewer parts than diaphragm linear actuators. The cost of wearing parts is 1/10 of the diaphragm, and less inventory is required to maintain the actuator.

Dynamic positioning - Supply pressure is sent to both sides of the piston for rigid, precise operation. The amount of air between the piston and the bottom of the cylinder provides strong aerodynamic stiffness, allowing for a high pressure drop - without the pop of a plug.

Reversible failure modes in the field are easily reversed without the need for additional parts.

Fail-safe springs - Internal springs provide fail-safe operation in the event of a failure of the air system. No universal spring bench group required.

Rigid operation - Supply pressure is sent to both sides of the piston, allowing the actuator to perform rigid and precise operation without hunting lag.

Durable components - High quality materials require little maintenance and no diaphragm breakage.

Simple maintenance - Regular maintenance is easy to perform because spring cylinder actuators only need to remove two components to access all internal components.

Low air consumption - Cylinder design uses less air supply than comparable diaphragm actuators.

Longer travel - a spring cylindrical linear actuator with size 25 has a travel of 1 1/2 inches (38 mm), while a similar linear diaphragm actuator has a travel of 3/4 inches (19 mm). Similar comparisons are made with larger executive agencies. Travel length up to 24 inches.
