The ST-4 Stacked disc internals are a powerful solution designed to address the most severe pressure drop problems while reducing sound levels and eliminating the effects of cavitation. It can be used for liquid, gas or biphase services. The ST-4 design consists of individual discs machined into concentric channels, machined into zigzag paths, stacked into compact cylinders. The cylinder is then clamped into the body cavity of the OpGL globe valve and doubles as a seat retainer.
In this case, fluid flows under the plug, and as the fluid flows from the inside of the cylinder through the jagged grooves, it is forced to make a series of 45-degree dives and climbs, or through 90-degree labyrinth turns. At the same time, the size of the channel increases, allowing expansion, thereby gradually reducing the pressure.
